You can make a difference by saving the aluminum pull tabs from your beverage cans. The metal tabs are recycled and the money helps pay for the RMHC of WNY utility bills.
.
Each year over 4,000 pounds of pull tabs are collected for us. (Approximately 1,270 pull tabs equals 1 pound!) With the donation value of your pull tabs matched by Niagara Metals, our local recycling partner, together you raise over $2,500 annually for our House!
Commonly asked questions:
Why do you only collect the tab?
We have limited space, and tabs are much easier to store than whole cans. Plus, it’s more sanitary and essential to support practices that keep the Ronald McDonald House clean and healthy for our guest families.
How much do you receive for the tabs?
There’s some science to this — and market and economic factors at play — but the simple explanation is that tabs are made of aluminum, and, as with most metals, the value of aluminum varies. The tabs we collect are delivered to local recycling partners in Buffalo. Our partners weigh the tabs at their processing facility and then send us a check for the total value.
