Hospital Volunteer

Be the heart of healing at Oishei Children’s Hospital or Sisters of Charity Hospital!

Join our RMHCWNY Hospital Programs and make a real difference in the lives of families during their toughest moments. Help brighten a child’s day, provide comfort to parents, and support families with small acts of kindness. Your time and care can bring hope and comfort when they need it most. Sign up today to volunteer at Oishei Children’s Hospital or Sisters of Charity Hospital and become a vital part of our compassionate team!

We rely on volunteers to extend our signature RMHC hospitality to our hospital guests. As our volunteer at local hospitals, you can support families just steps away from their child’s bedside with our Ronald McDonald Hospitality Cart.

Our Hospital Programs run seven days a week. Volunteers are asked to commit to two 3.5 hour shifts per month. (We understand some of our volunteers have extended periods away during the year. We welcome everyone when they are available.)

Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and are required to complete hospital health assessments, orientation and training.

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Welcome and acquaint visitors to the Hospital Programs offerings
  • Provide support to patients and families.
  • Make coffee, stage beverages and snacks.
  • Organize supplies for the kitchenette and Hospitality Cart
  • Push the Cart on the patient floors, visiting patients and families.
  • Tidy the room and cart: This will include wiping the counters, in the refrigerator, and cleaning small spills.

Make a Difference for Families & Children

Parents don’t know when their children will need medical help. But they should know they can always access the care they need. And with your help, we can support them all throughout their journey.
